With the Dual Power Max, they have produced a design that gives great results for a mid price point.

The Dual Power has a set of rotating brushbars which help to lift the dirt from carpets and ensure a deep clean. This motion works really well with this machine getting rid of a variety of stains. The twin water tanks on the Dual Power have a large capacity, meaning that you do not need to keep changing the water, and they are also easy to detach, empty and refill. This model also provides a handy wash tool and hose which allows for stair and upholstery cleaning.
Size and Price
At 9.5kg, this is a larger machine than the Instaclean making it slight more difficult to move around. The Dual Power Max moves well over the carpet and the machine is well built and sturdy. The design is very much in keeping with the Vax carpet cleaner design, and the green highlights will not be to everyone’s liking. Although the Rug Doctor is very heavy at 17.3kg, the large back wheels mean that it still remains maneuverable and folds down to make it more compact when not using. This machine features a pre-treatment kit that helps you to treat areas with ground in stains before you wash them, and the dual V technology also means that the carpets you are cleaning will dry quicker. The water tanks offer good capacity and are again simple to empty and refill.
Size and Price
The size of this model is relatively compact, and at 10.2kg, whilst not the lightest, it is still quite easy to move around to different areas. As with all Vax models, the machine is well built and sturdy, and is easy to move across the carpets. At £206 this is only a little more expensive than the previous model but offers slightly more functionality for the price.

The pre treatment kit is a nice extra, and helps with areas that may require a little more work. At £206, it is a little more expensive than the previous Vax model, but offers a little more functionality. Overall we would rate this as very good value for money.

Our third and final entry from Vax in this review is there also the most expensive, and at an extra £150 this may not be required by all. This model offers a professional quality finish and also has some added options of a pet bundle or ultra bundle.

The Dual V Upright contains air path technology which give a constant suction. These are combined with a five brush system that loosens dirts from the carpets, and an auto mix cleaning system which ensures the right consistency of solution and water. In addition to this there is a powered spinscrub hand tool which is suitable for cleaning upholstery and stairs. If you choose the add on bundles, then these provide special solutions for tackling particular types of stains.
Size and Price
This is a larger machine than the previous two models, and whilst at 13.2kg it is not as heavy as the Rug Doctor, it is still a heavy machine to move around the house. The size does mean that the water tanks are large, and it is still easy to move over the carpets. At £349.99, this is significantly more expensive than other machines, and whilst it does provide great results, they are not significantly better than the rug doctor. When looking for the best carpet cleaners for home use, price versus functionality is an important consideration, and the price point of this is too high when compared to other models.

All of the options from Vax provide for great quality carpet cleaners. Whilst the technology in the Vax V124A Dual V Upright does mean a high quality clean, we did not believe that it was significantly better than other options, most notably the rug doctor. At £349.99, we do not think that it offers the same value for money as some of the other Vax options and therefore we would rate this as average value for money.

With a 500 watt motor, this uses a slightly different technique than some of the other options, however still can produce great results. The Cleanmaxx features a large capacity water tank at the front, and has an easily removable dirty water reservoir.
Size and Price
At only 6kg, this is one of the lightest machines in our review, and this makes it easy to transport and move around to different areas of the house. The machine is easy to use and at only £113.58, provides a good quality of finish and will keep your carpets clean. It does not perhaps offer some of the deeper cleaning of the more expensive models, but offers a good solution for lightweight everyday cleaning.
